»Happy in Berlin«
“How to be happy in Berlin? That was the question posed 100 years ago by writers like Christopher Isherwood and Virginia Woolf, who came to Berlin to write and party and express their sexuality more freely. How does it feel a century later? Does the German metropolis still hold the promise of more freedom for artists from all over the world? And do writers who have moved here see themselves in the tradition of the expats of the past? Artists Sarah Berger and Sailesh Naidu will talk about topics like these with Oliver Niels Völkel on our digital stage.” –via Literaturhaus Berlin
Bipoc Film Society
Poetry & Filmmaking
“Bipoc Film Society is a dynamic platform based in Berlin that aims to promote intersectionality and representation within the industries that tokenize us quickly and destroy our stories all the faster. BIPOC Film Society is a collective that seeks to change traditionally white, male, and heteronormative narratives of film and film criticism. BFS launched in May 2020 and has already had three sold-out events (including a 100-person screening at Kulture Neu Denken and Yorck Group's Rollberg Kino), a music video for Berlin-based artist Lie_ning for Black Lives Matter, and for Cologne-based artist* Kaleo Sansaa. BFS is also planning a public film festival in 2021 for the BIPOC community and Allies.” –via Bipoc Film Society. Translated from the German.
